An internship at a community economic development agency the summer before her senior year of college spurred Mary Ellen O’Grady to pursue her MBA. “That experience gave me insight into the business challenges of the real world,” she recalls. “I realized early on how valuable a credential the MBA would be in my career.”
Mary Ellen chose Dominican’s Brennan School of Business for her graduate business degree. Her MBA (with a concentration in finance) has led her to a successful career in third-party logistics and supply chain management with leading worldwide organizations such as DHL Global Forwarding and OHL International.
She credits her Brennan education with preparing her for the rigors of the business today. “My professors brought their hard-earned, real-world experience into the classroom, helping to illustrate and conceptualize complex issues,” she says. “But Brennan also provided a different perspective on business—a focus on how to do what’s right by both your customers and your colleagues.”
Today, Mary Ellen is a director of global business development responsible for a multistate Midwest region. “When I secure a multimillion dollar account,” she says, “I know that I did it the right way—thanks to the Brennan School of Business.”
